Farewell U.P.

Day 4 started out a bit different than the rest...we slept in! The boys had breakfast and ran out some energy before we headed back toward southern Michigan.

We stopped in St. Ignace to climb Castle Rock.

Paul and Babe guard the bottom of the trail, so the boys got to learn a little bit about them.

Isaac was the first to the top.

The view from the top was pretty spectacular!

Isaac got a chance to use the big camera, so I promised to post his picture and tell everyone he took it. He seems to be a natural with the camera!

Then it was back to the Mackinac Bridge.

We spent some time throwing rocks in Lake Michigan.

On the way back across the bridge we were so envious of the workers standing on top of the arch. You may have to click this picture and zoom to see them, but I promise they are there. What a view!!

We had lunch in Mackinaw City, where Brian tried eggs mackinaw (basically eggs Benedict minus ham plus whitefish). I tried a chicken pasty (for my southern friends this is not an R rated dis, however, it is just a glorified chicken and veggie hot pocket)!

On the way back to the car we came upon this "statue" who startled the mess out of Isaac! He's a real person...too cool. He gave Lucas a business card that Lucas told everyone for the rest of our walk was money. He even tried to buy something with it!

Our trek south took us last a bunch of cherry farms and even a few sunflower fields.

We picked a couple sour ones and then bought a quart of sweet ones that the boys loved. I really just think they liked the spitting the pits part!

In Traverse City, we visited the World's Largest Cherry Pie Pan. Unfortunately, it was empty so we settled on pizza for dinner!

Tonight we are at Interlochen State park at another campground that makes those in NC look like complete dumps! We will be sleeping in this awesome tent.

The boys ran off some energy until it got dark around 9:30. We're still getting used to the late sunsets.

The boys did some computer time before bed.

And now they are all tucked in. This one is snoring...

And its pretty quiet up in daddy's bunk, but Lucas is up helping me blog. I'm hoping he's gonna conk out soon.

Good night from Michigan!
