Bounce Time

Lucas has been enjoying his jumperoo. He can't roll over yet, but he sure can bounce!! It makes me laugh to watch him because if you look real close on this video, you can see that he keeps his hands down on his thighs when he jumps. He looks so silly but he sure is having a great time!

Hinner

Isaac has taken an interest in inch worms this spring. He looks for them every time we go outside. Last week he found one that he decided to keep and for the first time he actually named it something other than “inch worm”. (This is huge seeing as he’s never ever named anything a name other than what it actually is. panda bear is named panda bear, frog named frog, etc) This lucky little inch worm, named Hinner, now lives in a gatorade bottle on our back porch. Isaac checks on him every day and even takes him out to play. Don’t they look happy together?

Wolfpack Spring Football

On Saturday, before the disasterous weather, we decided to take our chances with the rain and go to the Spring football game at Carter Finley. Isaac loves football, so we thought he would probably enjoy seeing the game in person. We got the field a little after 12 and there was a band (the Embers) playing out in the parking lot. Isaac thought that was so cool to see the guys playing instruments and singing on stage. It actually took some convincing to get him to leave the parking lot so we could go see the game! Once inside the stadium the next attraction that caught his eye was the ambulance parked by the first aid station. We found some great seats on the front row to watch the game. Isaac really enjoyed watching them tackle each other and spent most of the first half begging to go out on the field.

Just after the halftime break, Isaac decided it was time to visit the bathrooms. I don't know if this is true for every parent on a potty trained child, but now that he is potty trained we must visit the bathroom every place we go. So we started up the stairs when he realized that there were letters marking the different rows on the stairs. For the next 10 minutes, we stopped at each letter so he could point at it and tell me what it was. It was pretty cute. We finally made it to the bathroom where he seemed a little disgusted that there was no magic water or magic paper towel dispensers (magic = automatic).

We got back to our seats just in time to have coach call the game due to the incoming weather. The players did come up onto the concourse to meet the kids. Isaac was excited to meet a real football player in uniform. He gave high fives to quite a few of the guys. But by this time it was way past his nap time so he wasn't interested in having his picture made as you'll see below. Lucas on the other hand had decided he was done sleeping and did a good job posing for pictures. We all had a great time enjoying Wolfpack football!

Cousins

The kids and I are spending a couple days with Aunta and the cousins in Gastonia. On Monday, we took a picnic lunch over to Martha Rivers Park or as the kids call it "Castle Park". We ate our lunch on a blanket in the shade and when the kids finished we told them they could run down the hill and onto the soccer fields to touch the soccer goals. They both just took off running. Isaac touched the first goal and kept right on running to the goal at the other end of the field. Madeline did everything she could to keep up. Once he reached the far end Isaac made a hard left hand turn and took off toward the goal on the next field over. Madeline got to the far goal and laid down. After a few minutes she got up and headed over to the next field where Isaac was and she was crying. She got over to Isaac and my sweet little boy held her hand and walked her all the way back across the big field and up the hill to the blanket. It was so cute. After that, Madeline got her second wind and they played on the castle for an hour or so. Then we headed back to the house where they had popsicles. Please read about the popsicle experience here.

Isaac told me tonight when I tucked him in that "I like adventures with Madeline". I think one day Lucas will say the same of Audrey. I know I've been saying it for years about my little sister. We had a great day in Gastonia and I am already sad that we have to go home tomorrow.

Going to the Lodge!

This past weekend, Nana and Boppa took us to the Great Wolf Lodge in Concord, NC. Isaac sang the theme song from the commercials all last week and was SO excited when we finally arrived!! We immediately hit the pools on Friday. Isaac had an absolute blast playing on all the water features, and Brian and I took some time to enjoy the big kid water slides!!
On Saturday we set out to do all the activities on Isaac's pup pass. He got to play games in the arcade, play a round of mini golf, make his own stuffed bear, and have a free cup of ice cream. All of that on top of a couple hours at the pool made for one tired little man by Saturday evening. But he insisted on attending both sessions of story time and didn't actually get in bed until after 9pm!

Lucas taking a quick break. He really likes the water and even went under a couple of times. I think he's going to be a great swimmer just like his brother!

Sunday brought our final day of fun. We all slept in until about 8:30, then packed up the room.

The boys in the imaginary club house!
Nana and Boppa coloring the shirt that Isaac was supposed to color...
Once everything was in the truck, we asked Isaac what he wanted to do for the day. He, of course, replied "go swimming". So we headed back to the pool where Isaac went swimming for the next two and a half hours...and we're not talking let's relax on a raft or float type swimming. We're talking run, jump, go under the water, down the slides, and spend an hour plus jumping over waves in the wave pool! He had so much fun, and Brian and I both were fully aware that the big one was coming.

You other parents know what I'm talking about...the BIG I'm so tired but will never give in MELTDOWN! And it did happen...shortly after I took Lucas to the showers to get cleaned up and dressed. Isaac was in the pool with Brian when all of the sudden he comes up out of the water and starts screaming that his eyes hurt. This is where I mention that my son goes under water with his eyes open, so I know his eyes were burning from 3 days of chlorine. By the time they get to the showers, Isaac has both eyes closed and is crying, refusing to open them. Brian got him cleaned up, dressed and out to the truck still crying and still with his eyes closed. We went to lunch where he sat and ate his lunch with his eyes closed (feeling for his plate on the table). Then it was back to the truck and on to Aunta's house all with his eyes closed and an occasional outburst of crying. By the time we got to Aunta's (approximately 2 hours after leaving the pool) they were feeling better and he finally opened his bloodshot eyes, cousin Madeline seemed to do a good job distracting him too. Except for one time where he noticed them stinging, so he closed his eyes and came down the hall looking for me. That is when he walked into a wall! Poor little guy, he had a rough afternoon post swimming. I guess there really is such thing as "too much fun!"

The good news is he and his eyes are back to normal today and we're ready for our next adventure!! Thanks to Nana and Boppa for a great weekend!!!
