Party Time

Today we had Lucas’ first birthday party. In preparing for his party, I was so excited that we were going to get to do a wintertime theme (all the other kids have summer birthdays). The dinner menu was nice warm spaghetti, and his cake was igloos and ice blocks, and the weather in Wake Forest today…71 degrees. Not exactly the winter theme I was looking for!! The kids did get to play outside though and we had a wonderful winter birthday party out on the deck. The only thing better than that would have been snow!

The cake…igloos and ice blocks. Aunta and I went the cake pop route one more time, and I’m telling you now that this will be the last party of mine that you see these darling little treats. They are tasty, but they are an absolute pain to make. Thanks to Aunta for all her help with the cake. This one was definitely an adventure.

His favorite part of the party…the balloons.

For the first time in his life, he decided to eat neatly. I think he filled up on all that spaghetti and wasn’t all that hungry.

But don’t worry…big brother to the rescue. Isaac fed Lucas his cake with a fork. It was the neatest either one of them has ever eaten anything!! So no messy cake pictures today. Just one of my two favorite boys pretending they have manners!DSC_0414

Lucas barely stayed awake to open his presents.

We all had a wonderful day celebrating Lucas with our friends and family. He’s one special little boy and I’m so proud to have him and his big brother as my boys.

Lucas Turns One

Today was Lucas’ first birthday. I know I say it all the time, but I can’t believe that he is already a year old! It seems like just yesterday we were bringing him home. He had a very full day of excitement for his birthday.

After the park, it was off to Bojangle’s for lunch and then to the local ice cream shop for kiddie cones! This was Lucas’ first ice cream cone. Funny thing is, he doesn’t seem to like ice cream. He does seem to like the taste, just not the cold. It’s so funny to watch him try to eat it. His face turns inside out every time the cone gets close to his face!

The afternoon was filled with backyard play time.  Isaac loves to play chauffer in the new police car and the kiddos love to ride.

We ended the evening with a birthday dinner at CiCi’s pizza. Lucas loves a good buffet as you can probably tell from his face. They definitely lost money on us tonight!

We had a full day, and I'm fairly certain the birthday boy had a great time.
Happy Birthday little man. We all love you!

Cary Adventures

The kids love adventures so after wrangling them all into clothes and car seats this morning we headed off to Cary for a day full of adventure. First stop was Cary Towne Center where we met up with Shannon and Charlotte.
The kids made some new friends at the pet adoption center.

We found a photo booth by the toy area…and yes, you can fit 6 people into a little photo booth. The kids thought it was pretty cool, and the pictures turned out pretty great too.

After lunch at Chick-fila in the food court, we headed out for part 2 of our adventure. Aunt RaRa and Aunt Cindy bought Isaac some passes to the JumpZone.

Audrey watched the air hockey table like a hawk. When the table opened up, she was ready to go. She actually did pretty good hanging with the big kids!

We ended the day with ICEEs (or as Isaac calls them “shush puppies” instead of “slush puppies”) on our way to get Brian from work. Everyone had a great time today and come bedtime the kids were out in seconds!!

Jack in the Box

Lucas got a jack in the box for Christmas. For the first few days and the first 1000 times we played it his reaction was always the same, no matter how many times in a row we did it. Just too cute not to share.
