Reunion

There was a group of us in college that were practically inseparable for years. We all still live around the Raleigh area, but jobs and families and the fact that we're spread across the county has meant we've seen less of each other over the past few years than we probably should. On Sunday, we all managed to get together for an afternoon of frisbee golf (one of our favorite past times). We dusted off the old frisbees and headed out to Kentwood Park in Raleigh. It was a fun afternoon, and after seeing everyone there is no doubt we should try to do stuff like this more often.

Football Man

I got an email Friday morning at work from Brian. It was entitled "football man"...
It was followed by a second email that said "basketball man"...

Needless to say, his accuracy on the subjects is quite correct. We did, however, have yet another discussion about his choice of canvas for his art work! Thank goodness for washable markers.

Friday at the Museum

On Friday afternoon, Nana and Papa came up and we all headed to the Durham Museum of Life and Science. Isaac had a blast playing in the sand, riding on the train, and digging for dinosaur bones.

All smiles for the dinosaurs!

Is that a fossil in there?

Checking out the cool frogs!

It was a great afternoon and Isaac had a blast. Thanks Nana and Papa!!

First Aid Skills

You're never too young to learn the Heimlich maneuver! (This was actually a surprise hug from Madeline to Isaac. He never saw it coming!!)

Two Peas in a Pod

I'm really not sure who is the bigger kid in this picture...he's definitely his daddy's boy!
Can you get any cuter than this?

Practice Makes Perfect

Isaac practices his big brother skills with his new cousin Audrey. He is quite frankly a natural at being a big brother. He sure does love this little girl and he is still VERY excited about being a big brother so he can do stuff like this every day!

Double Trouble

These two little munchkins keep us moving and entertained every time they are together. I can never resist posting some of the pictures of the fun they have!

(please note...power lines are not as close as they appear in this picture. they were at least 20 feet behind them.)

Creeper Trail Weekend 2010

It's a family tradition...every September, the weekend after Labor Day, you can find Slivensky-Raynor-Blevins Clan in Damascus Virginia at the Virginia Creeper Trail. This being the 5th annual trip we decided it was time to make our own shirts. Opa was happy to come up with our design.

Every year we stay at the same rental house (Between the Trails) in Damascus, Va. It's become like our home away from home. We also take the same picture every year. It's fun to look back over the last 5 years to see how quickly our family has grown!

For those of you who do not know, the Virginia Creeper Trail is an old railroad bed in the mountains of Virginia. The tracks have been removed, and for the most part smooth gravel has taken it's place. The trail starts in Whitetop, Va goes about 17 miles down to Damascus, Va and then another 17 miles to Abingdon, Va. In the past 5 years, we've all made numerous trips down the mountain from Whitetop to Damascus. Mark and Brian have ridden up the mountain 17 miles (CRAZY!), and Anna, Mark and Brian have ridden the Damascus to Abingdon portion. It all depends on who is pregnant, who is watching the kids, and who feels like doing what on what year. This year was the first year we've had rain at the trail, but that didn't dampen any one's enthusiasm. Here is the gang getting ready to head down the mountain.

5 miles of pouring rain later at Green Cove Station where Audrey and I stopped to check on the gang...Isaac thinks he might be frozen! But there's no complaining here, I'm still convinced he would have ridden on had I let him.

But a little trail mix and a warm blanket was enough to entice a couple in the group that they wanted back in the warm truck with Audrey and I! (Opa and Oma are not pictured, but they were done after a sopping wet 5 miles too! I can't say I blame them.)
Brian, Mark and Anna made the decision to ride the remainder of the mountain back to the house in the pouring rain rather than riding in the back of the truck in the pouring rain. Either way they were going to be wet and cold. I think they enjoyed their dirt adventure! They sure do look happy!!
A lot of people would come home from a rainy weekend in the mountains disappointed with the weather and the time they had. But I can honestly say, we had a great time in the rain. The little ones loved it and us big kids loved it too!! Every year at the Creeper Trail is a brand new adventure!

Baby's New Room

It's finally done and we're ready for baby!

The transformation of the guest room into the new nursery started in July and I'm happy to say we finished this weekend.
