All Dressed Up

It's pretty safe to say we have an outfit for every occasion....and if we don't we'll find one!

We dressed up as explorers to go hiking in the woods.

And I don't know what exactly he is...one of the Village People perhaps?!

It's pretty much Halloween at our house every day!

Water fun

We spent Mother's Day playing in the water and sunshine in the front yard. We got the slip-n-slides out and made a little raceway. Isaac was really the only one brave enough to jump in that cold well water.

Photo: Mother's day slip n slide fun!

The sunshine warmed up the water in the pool by mid-afternoon, and Jonathan and Kathryn joined in the fun.

We even broke out the sprinkler and Lucas helped me make sure that Isaac and Jonathan got sufficiently wet!

There's just nothing like spending a relaxing Mother's Day playing with your boys!

Mudcats

The first weekend in May we decided a cloudy Sunday afternoon would be a good time to see a Carolina Mudcats baseball game. Both boys love baseball and were very excited that we got seats so close to the field. Muddy the mudcat rode his 4-wheeler to the dirt right in front of us. Isaac was excited...Lucas wasn't quite so sure.

By the fifth inning we had moved to seats under the cover because it started to rain. That put us first in line to have Muddy sign our baseball gloves.

Daddy and Lucas returned to the nice dry seats while Isaac and I headed off into the left field stands to see if we could catch some foul balls. Sure enough, by the top of the 8th we were soaked but we also had two Mudcats baseballs to take home.

Touch a Truck

As usual, I'm behind on posting stories to my blog. I didn't realize how much I'd missed until I downloaded all the pictures off my camera this weekend! As it turns out, we've been busy over the last couple of weeks!

At the end of April we visited a Touch a Truck event in Durham with our little friend Charlotte. While it wasn't as impressive as the first time we went to one of these events, the kids still had a great time.

The "drove" the boat...poor Charlotte is squished in the middle here.

Lucas is a big fan of "cycles", so he would have been more than happy to sit here all afternoon. He seems to be telling that little girl to step away from his bike!

It's serious business aboard the Duke Ambulance!

But don't worry we have a qualified driver!

Everybody move to the back of the bus!

Durham has an interesting tricked out police car. Nice rims, expensive tires and a flashy paint job. Not sure I'd be thrilled about this if I were paying Durham city taxes.

Charlotte knew just what to do to disarm a bomb with the Durham Bomb Squad's robot. They promptly put the remote control box away after we moved on!

He looks completely responsible right? For you Richard Scarry book fans out there...Lucas is my little speedboat spike...he drives fast and rarely watches where he's going!

Check out a Touch a Truck event in your area. They're as much fun for the kids as they are the adults!!

Isaac Turns 5

On Friday, Isaac turned 5 years old. We have spent the entire weekend celebrating! For his actual birth day, Brian took the day off and we spent the day doing whatever it was Isaac wanted to do.

1st stop = adventure in the form of Buffaloe Road Aquatic Center pool to try out his new snorkel and flippers!

He then got the privilege of choosing our lunch destination…Taco Bell for Doritos Locos Tacos!DSC_0010

Then it was home for nap time, which he of course opted out of for his birthday. So while Lucas slept he played Mario Cart dressed in his new Hulk outfit that Lucas got for him.

After nap time, party reinforcements arrived for dinner at Red Robin! (Someone was too hungry for hugs & pictures!)

DSC_0016Dinner was followed by some play time and finally bed time for the tired birthday boy. Bed time for the kiddos meant full time party prep for the adults!

Party day was full of fun and games. Mommy, Daddy, Oma & Opa bought him exactly what he wished for…an astronaut suit! He even got an outfit for his little sidekick!

Daddy, Opa & Uncle Mark spent Friday night completing his second wish…his very own cardboard space shuttle!

Everyone had fun in the space shuttle!

The moon room that we created in the laundry room was a big hit too. Everyone glows on the moon!

He ended the evening with his presents…all kinds of great stuff from legos to superman, rockets to kites, space books to shoes and SO much more!!

DSC_0232It was an amazing birthday weekend for Isaac. Isaac (and all of us) are so blessed to have such amazing friends and family in our lives to make his day so special. Five years ago this weekend, we held our first baby boy for the very first time. Back then none of us knew just how much he’d change our lives, but today we all agree that this is one amazing 5 year old.     DSC_0208  We all love you Isaac!

Happy 5th Birthday little astronaut!!

Duets

A rare moment where I actually caught these two little goof balls singing on camera!
