Distracted

Isaac is a very busy 3 year old. He usually doesn’t sit still long enough to color anything. I was surprised when I found this picture in some that Opa had taken over Creeper Trail Weekend.

It was followed by this one, which was more along the lines of what I was expecting. (Please note the crayon is now stuck in the taxi cab window.) Silly little boy!

Madeline is the complete opposite…very serious about her coloring!

Tailgating

Isaac has been talking about tailgating for the past few weeks. We got to the football game over Labor Day weekend later than expected so he didn’t get to tailgate that night. Saturday, on the coldest day of the summer, he brought it up again. We had some errands to run after visiting BugFest in downtown Raleigh and told him if he was a good boy we could tailgate for lunch. He was good, so we tailgated…not at a football game, but in the parking lot outside Once Upon a Child (a kids consignment store) in Cary. It was a little misty so we took full advantage of the tailgate cover.

One of the fun things about kids…you don’t have to be extravagant or even have some great idea to make a fun memory. Tailgating just because your 3 year old wants too…priceless.

A Boy and His Dogs

Isaac has become quite attached to his two little friends…Lady & Tramp. Lately, they have been traveling with us everywhere. They even get to play outside with him.

I’m not sure they really enjoyed the monkey bars though!

Lady learned a lot this weekend at BugFest!

Good Eats

Towards the end of August, Lucas started making it known that he was ready for big boy food like his big brother. He now eats just about everything that Isaac does…no more baby food. And boy oh boy does he love to eat. He also prefers to feed himself so he can shovel it in at his own pace! These are pictures from his first taco night. Needless to say, he enjoyed it!

Creeper Trail 2011

September means it’s Creeper Trail time. This year makes the 6th year of the Annual Blevins, Slivensky, Raynor Creeper Trail Weekend, and unlike last year, this year’s weather was terrific! For the first time in 3 years no one was pregnant or recently had a baby, so all of us rode the trail together.

The whole crew…Paige and Mike Pond joined in for the adventure this year!

And no Creeper Trail Weekend would be complete without visiting and feeding the ducks.

We had another great year at the Creeper Trail. We look forward to it all year, and the weekend seems to fly by once it’s here. It sure would be fun to make it the whole month of September instead of just one weekend!!

Brave Boy

Today my 3 year old showed up both of his parents and was a super brave little boy. Over a month ago, Isaac decided it would be a good idea to jump into the pool backwards. He didn’t quite make it into the pool and ended up hitting his mouth and tooth on the edge of the pool. We went to the dentist then and they thought all would be okay and said to keep an eye on it. All was good until Sunday evening when for some unknown reason Isaac walked by me outside and I asked him to see his teeth. When I looked in his mouth there was a weird spot on his gums above that tooth he had hit in June. It had not been there the night before when we brushed his teeth. This morning Brian took him to the dentist again. The tooth was infected and had to be pulled. Our brave little boy went to the back with the dentist and they pulled his tooth with just local anesthesia.

The before, a picture from Sunday at lunch after he and Opa assembled his new Lego moon car that Oma bought him.

The after, a picture of him tonight before bed.

The missing tooth makes him look so much older than 3. I’m so proud of our snaggletooth little boy. He’s our tough little superhero who has promised to only fly forwards from this point on, no more backwards flying!
