Isaac Turns 4
Today was Isaac’s fourth birthday. Daddy took the day off of work and we spent the entire day celebrating Isaac.
He got a couple of presents first thing this morning. He LOVES superheroes so he got a bunch of superhero stuff today. He got the poster (in the background on the couch) for his bedroom and Lucas gave him so new superhero shirts.
Since today was all about him, Isaac got to choose everyone’s shirt for the day. Even snow white (aka – Lois Lane) got dressed up!
I told him on Monday that he should be thinking about what he wanted to do for his birthday, so he’s been thinking all week. First stop today was the mall to play on the ice cream truck. (I had no idea until this week that he liked this so much!)
After play time and lunch at McDonald’s at the mall, we headed to the NC Museum of Natural Sciences in downtown Raleigh. The new section is really nice and Isaac enjoyed all of the new exhibits. According to Lucas, in this picture Isaac is posing with a “Buppy”.
A rare picture of me and my two favorite boys!
The boys favorite part of the museum is the creepy snakes. I have a good zoom on my camera so I got these couple of pictures from a distance. Most of you know my extreme fear of snakes, and having my boys this close, even with glass there, made my heart pound and the room spin!
When we got home this afternoon, my little superman fan got his big gift. Isaac loves to dress up like Clark Kent, run in his room, change his clothes and come out as Superman to save the day. Until today his Clark Kent outfit was a button up shirt. We thought it would be fun to get him the real deal. It turns out Goodwill is a great place to find dress up clothes! Isn’t he the cutest Clark Kent you’ve ever seen?
He chose the restaurant for dinner, his current favorite…Olive Garden. He loves to eat the gnocchi soup and bread sticks. When we returned from dinner Aunt RaRa and Aunt Cindy brought him some cupcakes.
Isaac enjoyed his, but probably not nearly as much as his little brother enjoyed his!
It was a great day of celebration. We all had such a fun time and tonight we’re all exhausted!! And there is still a whole weekend of celebration ahead of us!
I cannot believe that 4 years have passed since the first time I got to hold my sweet little miracle in my arms. Today is not only his birthday, but it’s a day that changed me forever. God gave me such a wonderful gift when he made me this little boy’s Mommy. I am truly blessed.
Happy 4th Birthday Little Man. Mommy loves you with all of her heart.

Little Picassos
Earlier this spring we ordered new patio furniture that was delivered in a big box. As soon as it came off the truck, Isaac claimed the big box as his “phone booth”. (Remember he’s a HUGE Superman fan, so he needed a place to change into Superman!) On Monday, we decided his phone booth need some decorating.
Free Expression Tunnel (NCSU) here we come!!
Painting is hard work and Lucas followed his brother to the drink fridge for some refreshment!

4 Peas in a Pod
Every afternoon after nap, the boys can’t wait to get outside. They play distracted in the yard because they’re really just waiting for the school bus to drop off their best buddies Jonathan and Kathryn! When they see them coming down the street their eyes light up. Isaac takes off running to meet them. Lucas stands in the driveway and just yells his version of their names. It’s fun to watch! Jonathan and Kathryn are obviously older than my two boys, but they are also GREAT with them.
Water fun…

We’re so glad our neighbors moved home from California! It just wasn’t the same here without them!!

Veggies!!
Back in March, Isaac and I tackled our first nap time project…raised garden beds. We made three of them in less than 2 hours.
The next weekend Daddy helped us move the boxes to the backyard and fill them with dirt. As you can see, we had all the help we could handle with this part of the project!
A week after that we headed to Lowes where we bought all kinds of plants and seeds to go in the garden. I may have gotten a little carried away with all we bought, but I couldn’t seem to tell my cute little helper “no” when it came to the plants he wanted. We ended up with: Box 1 – cucumbers, beans, 4 tomato plant varieties and zucchini; Box 2 – squash, leaf lettuce, green & yellow peppers, radishes, beets, head lettuce and one strawberry; Box 3 – asparagus, red onions, brussel sprouts, carrots; One barrel of potatoes; one patch of corn in the regular old ground. I told you….we got carried away.
Now two months later, our garden has grown huge!
Our little experiment, string beans in a pallet. So far it seems to be working well.
Some of my favorite childhood memories are summer days spent in my neighbor/adopted grandpa Ralph’s garden eating strawberries and beans right off the vine. Now, Isaac and Lucas will both stand and eat right out of our garden. It warms my heart to watch them enjoy the fresh veggies and making memories like the ones that I have! So far we’ve enjoyed asparagus, lettuce and radishes. Isaac even got to try one of his little carrots yesterday.
It should be a summer packed with fun and lots of fresh veggies. Just another way we’ve turned our backyard into our own little farm!
