Cousin Fun

Madeline & Audrey (and of course Aunta & Uncle Mark) came up for a visit over the weekend. It's been over a month since we all saw each other so there was a lot of fun to catch up on. Madeline loves my homemade waffles, and yes even Aunt Rachel can get creative for a holiday!

After breakfast Mario Cart Racing on the Wii. These kids are very serious about their racing!

Saturday was a great day to be outside and the kids quickly discovered that the pond frogs had returned for the spring. Lucky for them Aunta (who is not terrified of the pond filter box where the snake was last summer like Aunt Rachel is) caught a couple of the frogs so they could have fun petting them. These guys are HUGE by the way!

And in true March Madness spirit, Madeline joined Isaac at basketball practice on Friday. She did a great job and is much more of an athlete than any of us expected! For more on her experience check out Anna's blog

The little ones had fun at practice too. They ran on the open court and stole the special floor dots when the coach wasn't looking.

We had a great weekend together and are already looking forward to a summer of fun at the beach with the Blevins Crew!

Party Time

We celebrated our friend Foster's 9th Birthday at Adventure Landing on Saturday. The boys were more than excited to be spending the day playing games and eating pizza & cake!

The whole gang singing to the birthday boy!

After eating, we headed out to play mini golf. Isaac stayed with the older kids while I took Lucas on a less crowded course where he could play his game. He caught on quickly and did pretty good even though he kept calling it hockey.

He's already practicing his celebration for the 18th hole on Sunday at the Master's!

I don't think they do this at the Master's though. Stay on the cart path crazy!!

When we caught back up with Isaac we found that he had been "locked" up in the jail on the 16th hole. Cute little prisoner isn't he? (so serious!)

We finished up with some go cart rides. Unfortunately for Lucas, his daddy was honest and told them his real age so he was too young to ride. Isaac was excited though because that meant he got to use Lucas' tickets and got some extra rides.

Ride 1 was with Mommy...

Ride 2 was with Daddy....yes, he's waving to the crowd in turn 1!

Ride 3 was with Patti...I'm pretty sure that by this point he was an ice cube! It was cold and windy on the track Saturday.

Lucas promptly fell asleep after the go carts while Isaac cashed in all his arcade tickets for some more useful junk for our house!

It's always fun to celebrate special days of the people we love.
Happy 9th Birthday Foster!
Your smallest fans and their parents love you!

Ants

For those of you who know me well, you'll may or may not remember that for the 10+ years we've lived in our house we've had a never ending battle with little tiny sugar ants. Last fall, we finally got rid of them. So this post is somewhat ironic.

For Christmas, Nana & Boppa got the boys an ant farm. After the holidays, we went online and ordered our ants. Because of the winter temperatures we had to wait until warmer days to have our ants delivered. They finally arrived last week.

Isaac was so excited to find his package waiting in the mailbox!

The ants came in a little tiny tube and he got to transfer them into his fancy green farm.

They got to work right away.

Fear for your life ants....little Godzilla is watching you!!!

We've had the ants for a week and it's amazing how much work they have done. They are busy little creatures. I have to say that Mommy & Daddy may just being enjoying them as much as the boys are!

Welcome to the family farm INVITED ants!

Great Wolf Lodge 2013

The last weekend of February we headed to Williamsburg, Va with Nana and Boppa to check out the Great Wolf Lodge there. The boys look forward to their annual trip to the lodge...endless swimming & fun....who wouldn't be excited. This year's room came complete with a cool bunk bed cabin for the boys (& mommy as it turned out).

Fun with crazy eyes from the arcade!

There was even a little time for bowling. Isaac is pretty much an old pro, but Lucas on the other hand thinks that when it's your turn you just throw as many balls down the lane as you can before the pins disappear. It makes sense to me!!

Isaac with his new friend, Red Fire Dragon...and yes this dragon goes by all 3 names, don't try to shorten it!

Swimming is by far the highlight of the stay. This is the first year that Lucas has been able to do things on his own. He was a little tentative at first, but as soon as he found the slides he was good to go. I'm pretty sure he rode the kiddie slides 100 times in the three days we were there.

They don't look tired at all do they? I swear these two would have played all night had they not closed the waterpark!

Isaac with Daddy playing dolphin in the wave pool.

Lucas and Boppa jumping the waves. I'm pretty sure Boppa needed a week to recover once he got home...the boys kept him VERY busy!

Isaac was tall enough to ride all the rides except the tornado this year, and he rode on everyone of them (even the surfing wave!). His favorite thing by far was the lazy river. Sounds nice doesn't it? Yeah, so Isaac's idea of the lazy river is to use the small amount of current to help propel you along as you run & swim as fast as you can around the "lazy" river without a tube. There's nothing lazy about his way, but I will say that the 50 laps a day that we did were a great workout!!

Thanks Nana & Boppa for another great trip to the Lodge!!
