Isaac's favorite place to help mommy is in the kitchen. He pushes a chair from the kitchen table up against the cabinets, crawls up and jumps right in to help. Tonight, we made homemade pizza. He helped me roll out the pizza dough, watched me pour on the sauce (then he rolled the sauce), and as I put the pepperonis on he went behind me and took a bite out of each one before putting it back. Since it was just us tonight I figured the little bites out of the pepperonis wouldn't hurt too much. :) Then it was time for his favorite part...the cheese! I was surprised that he let me put some on the pizza at all, but he did and then he got a little bowl all to himself. While the pizza baked, Isaac played with the left over ingredients. He ate probably a quarter of the jar of pizza sauce...sometimes with cheese, sometimes licked off the pepperoni, and sometimes straight off the spoon. Here is my little chef hard at work:

Redemption
A little redemption for Brian after his embarrassing fall on Friday at the playground. On Sunday's return trip, he and Mark performed their stunt in tandem at the request of a little boy who saw them goofing off while he was walking up to the park. The little boy's mother made the request for him, and Brian and Mark were all too eager to perform for an audience. This time, they were both able to stick the landing!

Lizards
When the sun came out in Charleston, so did the lizards. They were sunning themselves on the window screen in the kitchen window. Being the nature enthusiasts we are, we took the opportunity to open the window and bring the screen inside so that our children could get a closer look at the lizards. Isaac loved it and even worked up the courage to touch one. I was so proud of him. Madeline was more content to just look, but enjoyed that all the same! Here are the kids on their little adventure.
More Charleston Fun
The sun decided to join us on Saturday in Charleston. It was absolutely beautiful, but very breezy for our trip to Folly Beach. This is our first trip back to the ocean since "the incident" with Brian's cousin and the man of war last summer. I have to admit I was a little apprehensive at first and my eyes never left the water around the kids, but eventually I began to relax a bit and the kids had a blast playing in the cold water. Here are Isaac and Opa discussing the best place to throw shells into the water.
On Sunday before heading out, we went back to the playground for some dry fun! Isaac found this little window that he turned into a lunch counter and served everyone coffee, pizza, and hot dogs. He's quite the short order cook!

Fun in Charleston!
We are enjoying a fun family weekend in Charleston, SC with Oma, Opa, Aunta, Uncle Mark, and Madeline. Today was kind of rainy, but we still managed to find some fun things to do. This morning Isaac and Madeline enjoyed some reading time with Oma out on the porch.
Then they spent some time on the old adventure cart!
Breakfast with a view! Isaac enjoyed some eggs and fruit while Madeline devoured all the bacon.
Then it was time for some fun at the park playground. The toys here are really cool and the kids (both young and old) really enjoyed it. Everyone was soaked when we left because of the rain from yesterday and the mist from today, but it didn't seem to slow anyone down.
Here is a video of some of the fun at the park. Today, the camera was rolling at just the right time. I hope you find it as entertaining as we have. Let's all hope the Isaac isn't counting on getting his coordination from his father!

Lessons Learned on a Saturday Morning
Four fun things that mommy learned today:
1. Springtime means the sun comes up earlier every day. My son rises with the sunshine! Closing select doors in the house keeps the sunlight from reaching Isaac's room too early. Today, mommy and daddy slept in until 8:30!!
2. Isaac is nearly 22 months old, but he already knows how to shave! This morning while drying my hair, Isaac walked into the bathroom opened Brian's drawer, observed the contents, then pulled out daddy's razor, and started to put it on his chin. Thank goodness for quick reflexes!! From now on, daddy's razor has a new much higher, much more secure location!
3. Isaac wears deodorant. He evidently watches closely while daddy gets ready during the week (see lesson #2). He insists on having deodorant like daddy. So Brian puts the top back on after applying his and then rubs it under Isaac's arm. This results in a HUGE smile!!
4. Mommy needs a new tooth brush. I don't know how many times it's happened, but I rolled over this morning to see Isaac and daddy brushing their teeth. Only thing about it is that Isaac doesn't have a toothbrush in our bathroom...he was using mine! So, I'm thinking a new tooth brush for me and a second one for Isaac that we can keep in our bathroom.
5. I love Saturday's with my little boy!

American Idol?
One of Isaac's favorite things to do is sing songs. They have music class at school and he absolutely loves it. Here he is singing one of his favorite songs. (Please, please, please forgive the fact that I have to sing along with him. You need not mention my lack of ability to anyone!)

Doreece
We recently splurged and bought ourselves an irobot roomba vacuum cleaner for the house. I don't know who was more excited on the day the big box came me or Isaac. He went through the box faster than I could even get my hands in there. We took the vacuum out of the box, named her, and then set her up to charge. My original intention was to name her "Big Deloris", but when I ran this by Isaac he pronounced "Deloris" more like "Doreece", so Doreece became her name. This was probably the last time that Isaac actually really liked Doreece. Once charged, we turned her on and she started moving about the floor sucking up all the dirt and Wripley tumbleweeds (furballs) on the floor. I was in love...Isaac was running for his life screaming at the top of his lungs! He's gotten used to having Doreece around (she runs now during the day when he's not at home), but he still notices her when we walk through the kitchen near her "bed".
Last week, we came home one night and she was still in charging mode. When she's charging, the button on top flashes orange. Isaac noticed this on his way into the living room. He called me over and pointed at Doreece. He said "mama, doreece eye" and then started blinking his eyes at me. He thinks the power button is Doreece's eye!! Hilarious!! Here's a video of Isaac talking about Doreece.
