Sunrise At Cadillac Mountain

Some of us got a bright and early start to the morning today. Everyone except Brian and Isaac, who decided to sleep in, was up at 5:30 to go see the sunrise at Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park. During a select time in the fall, Cadillac Mountain is the first place in the US to see the sun every morning. So up the mountain we went to see the sunrise and it was truly spectacular (although freezing cold)! The pictures really speak for themselves.

Pre-sunrise
There were a ton of people there to photograph the sunrise. This is just some of them.

Madeline bundled inside my jacket (like I said, it was COLD!)...

Almost time...
The sunrise

It really was an amazing sight, even as cold as it was and I'd recommend it to anyone visiting the area. Perhaps the most amazing thing to me is that people will travel all over the world looking for amazing things to see. Sure, they've named the seven wonders of the world and they're great and all, but some of the most amazing and beautiful things are right here in the United States. People just don't take the time to stop and look. I love to travel the US and I'm loving sharing this with Isaac already. Yes, he missed the freezing cold sunrise this morning (there really wasn't enough room in my jacket for a third child), but they'll be others that we will see together. I'm just so blessed to have the opportunities to share these experiences and my love for the simple beauties of the world around us with him the same way my parents did with me. I hope one day he'll pass this along to his kids too.

"His fingerprints are everywhere...I just slow down to stop and stare...opened my eyes and man I swear...I saw God today"

I need to learn to slow down every day.
