Rain, Rain Go Away

Today was a rainy, windy day in Maine, but we still managed to find plenty of things to do. We took our time getting ready this morning enjoying a breakfast of pop-tarts and muffins before heading out in the rain. Our first stop was to see Lenny the Chocolate Moose at Len Libby's Chocolate Shop. This moose is made entirely out of chocolate!! And of course, what would the morning be without a few free samples!!
After the chocolate shops, we decided to visit some of the local lighthouses. We were originally going to do this by boat, but the tour got canceled because of high seas. So, by land we shall go! At the first stop, the kids insisted on getting out of the car to see the ocean and the lighthouse. They quickly realized how cold, wet, and windy it was outside so at the rest of the stops I was the only one crazy enough to get out of the car to take pictures.

Madeline took a quick snooze on the way to downtown Portland. Isaac waited patiently for about a half hour to wake her up. He sure can be a sweetheart!
Then we took in some of the local "wildlife" at the Cabela's store just outside of Portland. We probably spent a good hour walking around the display in the middle of the store talking to all of the animals.

By this time the kids were starting to get tired. Isaac found a friend and tried to take a nap in two different spots in the fishing department. Neither one worked out all that well for him.

So we headed back to cottage where we made soup and grilled cheese for dinner. The perfect warm end to a chilly rainy day!
