After our early morning start, we grabbed breakfast at a local bakery (delicious) and headed back to the motel to get cleaned up for the day. Isaac and Aunta had a little fun with some shower caps! Crazy kids.
Then we headed over to the Oceanarium and Lobster Hatchery. There are evidently a couple on the island, but only one is actually open. It took us a lot longer to get there than originally planned, but the kids ended up having fun and I can actually say I learned something today.

After the hatchery, we headed over to Acadia National Park for a picnic lunch and general sightseeing. The coastline is absolutely beautiful and completely different from NC.

The "whales"...it was a classic! We got to the sandy beach and some old lady says "do you see that white foam out there in the distance? It's three whales playing in the surf. Another man was down here with his binoculars and I saw them." Everyone at the sandy beach was all about looking at and photographing the whales. We were pretty excited about it. Then we got in our cars and drove further into the park. The "whales" turned out to be a grouping of rocks. We just laughed knowing that all day the people at the sandy beach were going to be wasting time photographing the rock whales! Aren't they just amazing...

Our final destination was downtown Bar Harbor where we visited the shops before heading back South.
Tonight we are tucked in a hotel in Ogunquit, Maine.
