On Monday morning, Southport held a kids crab derby on the waterway. The kids were pretty excited to try their hand at catching crabs. Unfortunately, the crabs seemed to have other plans for the morning and were not biting at all!
Isaac gave it his best effort. He was very determined to start.
Then the excitement fizzled a bit…
and anything his brother can do, Lucas thinks he needs to do too!
So we packed up and headed back over to the crab dock at Oak Island. It was much less crowded and there were actually crabs at this dock although Lucas isn’t real big on holding one even if it only had 2 arms left!
Please notice in the above picture that Lucas is no longer wearing his green crab derby shirt. Why you ask? Like I said, this dock was much less crowded, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t find a way to fall in! That’s right folks, we made it through the morning derby with about 75 kids and adults on one tiny dock only to go to an empty dock and have Lucas throw himself in the waterway with his father standing right beside him! He just threw that pine cone a little too hard and went right with it! Daddy was thankfully able to save him with only a little scratch to his forehead. And it was back to throwing pine cones he went!
Aunta and I caught about 10 crabs for the kids to play with.
Trouble times 4…these crabs don’t know the fun they’re about to have running from 4 crazy kids!
There’s just never a dull moment when you’re with the Raynor/Blevins bunch. I love watching these kids grow up together!!
