Birthday Balloon

On the morning after Isaac’s party, the kids were outside playing when my Aunt Karen decided to untie one of Isaac’s birthday balloons and let it go. Not a big deal right? Well, to Isaac it was a huge deal. He came running in the house and was all upset that his balloon went up to the sky. But have no fear, Aunta to the rescue. She tells Isaac that Aunt Karen and GG will look for his yellow balloon when they fly home later that day.

Two days later, in the truck on the way home, he asks “Did Aunt Karen find my balloon?” The child NEVER forgets a thing!! I made sure to ask Aunt Karen and one week later a box arrives in the mail for Isaac with his yellow balloon inside. He was so excited, but then stopped and asked “but what happened to all the air?” So, this time mommy is on her toes, and I explain “well, the ribbon probably got caught in the propeller and pulled off letting the air out.” That explanation seemed fine to him and after removing the prize from inside the deflated balloon (a Sacagawea dollar coin), I reinflated the balloon and he played with it the rest of the night.

Thanks so much for getting Isaac’s balloon back Aunt Karen. We hope the air marshals didn’t give you too much grief for rolling down the window on the plane!!

  1. And that my friends is just the beginning of how Anna and Rachel began to turn into their father. What great "stories" we tell our kids!!
